| BERMUDA OVERVIEW |
Bermuda is the third largest insurance centre in the world after New York and London, leading to a large demand for accountants, actuaries, IT specialists and other finance professionals. Bermuda is located about 650 miles east-south-east of North Carolina, USA. The island, sub-tropical in nature, has moderate temperatures (thanks to the warm waters of the Gulf Stream), stunning beaches and a rich tapestry of cultures. Temperatures generally range from 60 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. This self-governing British Territory has a population around 63,000. Over 20% of the jobs in Bermuda are filled by expatriates, with 700 accountants alone on the island, 500 expats and 200 Bermudians. Bermuda has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world. The Bermuda dollar is on par with the US dollar and both currencies are accepted on the island. The main language is English.
